CARDIFF WALKING FOR HEALTH

Welcome to Cardiff's Walking for Health scheme website. Walking for Health is a series of organised led walks throughout the city, designed to encourage Cardiff's residents to exercise more.

The aim of the scheme is to encourage people who participate in very little exercise to start walking more and gain the confidence to continue exercising on a regular basis, either in a group or on their own.

A series of regular led walks have been developed with walk leaders and other support staff. Walkers are advised to start gently for a few weeks and build up to something a little more testing when they are ready.

The walks are open to all with some being more suited to those with wheelchairs and pushchairs (please contact our Co-ordinator for further advice).

Regular walking at a brisk pace can help people feel better in many ways:

  • It's friendly and sociable.
  • It's free, frequent and fun.
  • It can help you lose weight.
  • It can help you improve your general health.
  • It can help people get out and mix with other local people.
