Winter Walk 2009/2010

On Tuesday, 16 February, 54 of us met at the Colwill Rd Education Centre, beside the river Taff and then walked north into and round Hailey Park and then south through the Llandaff Cathedral cemetery, into Bute Park to the weir bridge and then back to the Colwill Rd Centre. The walk was 4.5 miles and lasted almost two hours.

We were fortunate with the weather apart from one shower and everybody seemed to enjoy themselves! Thanks to Gareth Stamp and Kevin Date, the Park Rangers who explained some of the recent features of the park and the weir. Thanks also to Penny Bowers from the Friends of Hailey Park, who explained the latest work in Hailey Park.

Autumn Walk 2009

On Thursday 20 October 41 walkers braced some wet weather to walk along the Taff Trail from Taffs Well to Nantgarw and then back via Gwaelodygarth. Unfortunately the weather became very heavy towards the end of the walk. Photographs were simply not an option! Thanks to all those who came along!

Summer Walk 2009

On Tuesday 18 August the Cardiff Walkers walked around Cosmeston lakes in Penarth. There were over 50 walkers. The weather was fine and the walk was enjoyed, particularly as we explored parts of the site on the perimeter. Afterwards, some people went to the cafe for lunch and some to the local pub.

Spring Walk 2009

On 15 May the Cardiff Walkers explored a stretch of the River Ely which has been opened up as part of the Ely Trail. We started from St Fagans and walked along the river towards Ely. It was a little damp, but the rain kept off and we all enjoyed the chance to walk along the river bank. Finally a fair number of us had lunch in the Plymouth Arms.

Once again thanks to those who came along.

Despite heavy rain, 46 of us went for our Cardiff Winter Walk round the Forest Farm Nature Reserve on 3 March. Thanks to all those who braved the weather.

Thanks also to Paul Davies from the Cardiff Rangers and to BTCV who kindly hosted us for tea and cakes afterwards!

Pray for a better weather for our Spring Walk!

Autumn Walk 2008

On a beautiful sunny day in October, over 100 walkers walked through Cardiffs Bute Park and listened to the tree expert whilst he described the many Champion trees which the park is proud to own. We then ended with a cuppa and a Welsh cake at the Pedal Power Centre. Another successful walk!
